Lakeland Housing Authority Releases FY 2027 Annual Agency Plan and MTW Amendment for Public Review

The Housing Authority of the City of Lakeland (LHA) has officially released its FY 2027 Annual Agency Plan, Budgets, Policies, and Moving to Work (MTW) Amendment for public review and community engagement.  

As part of the public participation process, LHA has scheduled two public meetings with the Resident Advisory Board and members of the community to discuss the proposed plans, modernization initiatives, and future housing strategies.

Public Meeting Schedule

  • June 12, 2026 — 8:30 AM
  • July 3, 2026 — 8:30 AM

Both meetings will be held at the Lakeland Housing Authority Conference Room located at:

A formal Public Hearing is also scheduled for:

  • July 17, 2026 — 8:30 AM  

The proposed plans and supporting documents will remain available for public review for forty-five (45) days beginning May 21, 2026. Community members are encouraged to review the documents and submit comments during the public comment period.  

Focus on Modernization, Housing Preservation, and Resident Services

The FY 2027 Plan reflects LHA’s continued commitment to modernizing its housing portfolio, preserving affordable housing opportunities, and improving operational efficiency while maintaining compliance with HUD requirements.  

Key initiatives highlighted in the plan include:

  • Implementation of HOTMA and NSPIRE regulatory updates
  • Expansion of resident self-sufficiency and workforce programs
  • Continued Moving to Work (MTW) innovation strategies
  • Portfolio repositioning through RAD/Section 18 conversion activities
  • Development and preservation of affordable housing units across the agency’s portfolio  

Among the major redevelopment efforts outlined are ongoing modernization activities involving Renaissance at Washington Ridge, Twin Lakes Estates, Dakota Park, Colton/Bonnet, and additional Faircloth-to-RAD development initiatives.  

Strengthening Resident Services and Self-Sufficiency

The plan also introduces expanded Resident Services initiatives designed to support residents across Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), LIHTC, Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS), and MTW programs.  

These services will focus on:

  • Employment readiness and workforce development
  • Financial literacy and asset-building programs
  • Technology and digital literacy education
  • Health and wellness coordination
  • Resident engagement and long-term self-sufficiency support
