Rent Increase
Owners participating in the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program may request a rent increase either during the term of the Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) contract or at contract renewal, in accordance with HUD regulations at 24 CFR § 982.503 and Housing Authority policy. Owners must submit written rent increase requests to the Housing Authority at least 60 days in advance of the proposed effective date of the increase.
All rent increase requests are subject to Housing Authority approval and are reviewed to ensure that the proposed rent is reasonable in accordance with 24 CFR § 982.507, supported by current market data for comparable unassisted units, and affordable within program requirements, including payment standard limits and family share of rent.
Approval of a rent increase is not guaranteed and is contingent upon the results of the rent reasonableness determination and program funding availability.
